I Was Pictured, By Myself, And Mentioned In A Sports Illustrated Issue!
In 1988, I worked as a security guard on a high school campus where Janet Evans attended. When she won her gold medals at the Olympics, an article was written and published in Sports Illustrated. One day, while walking the campus, Janet Evans came running up to me and said, “You’re in Sports Illustrated!” She opened the page, and sure enough, there I was, right in the middle of the page, all by myself! If that wasn’t enough, I was also mentioned in the article as “Rambo” because that’s what the students called me, among other things. Janet Evans went on to sign a copy for me, saying some very nice things. Never in a million years did I think I would find my picture in any magazine.
