Kodaikanal is a popular hill station in South India but I didn’t expect that it to get so crowded when I went there last holiday.

As soon as we hit the road, we got stuck in hours of traffic jam! With car lines stretching for more than a few miles

On all the tourist spots, it felt like getting mobbed!! It was even hard to walk and breath!

Hundreds of tourists and hawkers everywhere!

Roads packed with dozens of buses and vehicles with no room for parking!

See the view tower in the back? There’s literally a non-stop queue of people lining up to just take peak for a few seconds from there.

So I decided to ditch all the touristy places and visit a quite secluded village nearby. It was tiny village with only a few colourful huts but it was the most enriching experience.

See the lake in the distance? That’s where I proceeded from the village. Not a soul on the road !!

Only lush greens and foggy skies stretching throughout!!

I also got bonus topup for ditching the popular tourists spots. I visited these tiny huts to view how the villagers prepare Eucalyptus oil.

Euclayptus oil is extracted via thermal heater. It takes about 24 hours for the entire process complete and get a few bottles of oil!

Finally the entrance toward the lake. The crowds were practically non-existant.

Quenching some hunger pangs on the way
