I went to the New Zealand trip for the first time and was very excited about it. Half of the journey I traveled with a friend and the second half by myself. I had planned the whole trip by myself, and Milford Sound deserved an entire three days out of the total 14. I have decided to take chances because the place was very promising. Milford Sound is known for severe weather; it is one of the rainiest places in the world. So, with the bad luck, I could get three days of misery and dull greyness.

The first day was promising with some god rays shining through, but the sunset didn’t make it, the Sun sunk in the grey clouds and nothing happened. The second day was pretty dull, grey start to end. The third day… Started with the torrential rain and high wind. So, I went to shoot a little bit of the significantly bigger waterfalls. But later the wind had torn the clouds and made some gaps for the beauty to come in. And I was rewarded with the dramatic light and quickly changing conditions. The only challenge was to do the photos in the moments of still – to get the reflections.

Later, during the night I ventured to see the stars but was stuck in the middle of nowhere. I saw the glow worms and spend the next couple of hours making the most magical photo I have ever created.

Bliss. One of my best photos from the trip.

The light show was amazing and the clouds changed every minute

A panoramic mountain photo of the same location. Another fav from the whole year.

There was a short moment of god rays and some dude froze in awe. Luckily, I managed to photograph him.

Same scene, different direction. I had about 30 seconds of no wind and made this waterfall photo with the reflections.

A little bonus. I went at night to see the stars and saw these forest stars. Amazing sight.
