Mountain castle of Vrbovac is placed in Central Bosnia, between villages Skomorje and Zagrađe, between cities Zenica and Travnik, in the valley of river Jasenica.
No one ever discovered who built it. Sir Arthur Evans mentioned it in his book “Through Bosnia and Herzegovina on Foot During the Insurrection”. He compared it to the Cleopatra’s Needle (obelisc).
Researcher and professor Pavao Anđelić tried to find any document about it, but with no success. Rocks are making terraces with 120 meters height from the river.
Austro-Hungarian Empire built railway and tunnel. Jasenica iz gold-bearing river, coming from Vlašić Mountain.
I hiked in the area with my father and those are our photos. I am tour and mountain guide, so if you are interested to visit it, along with Cental Bosnia, contact me for more informations.
