I Made This Discovery Mask, With Polyethylene Dvd Bags, Rubber Bands And Decorated With Stickers That I´ve Collected For A While. Quarantine Gave Me The Opportunity To Use Things I´ve Hang On To, That Seemingly Were Useless. So, I Went Out To Do The Shopping With My New Mask On.
I keep thinking, how can I contribute to these global situation? As an artist, how can I come across with something unique, original and funny to do? So this is what happens… I was watching some old DVDs that I have for quite a long time, and suddenly it hit me! What if… I use one of this DVD bags instead of fabric, and replicate the creases of a regular mask to give it volume and ergonominic form? Since I didn´t have any elastic, I used some rubber bands I keep at the kitchen, adhesive and insulating tape and the funniest part…some stickers to decorate it. Stickers from old cassettes, calendars, advertising souvenirs that had been on a drawer for quite a long time (some of them could be 27 years old) waiting to be usefull, and here I come with this idea. The rubber bands were few, so I had to make my own elastic bands, therefore it makes each of the masks are unique and none similar to others, they are numbered as if they were engravings, and the best part…I have so much fun making them…So far I sold 20, 10 for my sister (who is still a bit sceptical about if ones could breath with it)and the other 10 for a goof friend.
