Hi! I am a creative mexican artist in visual media, My name is Ben Gracida and like every one in the world I’m in pandemic times; here in México, the November 1st and 2nd is the day of tradition for pay our respects to our lovely ones who past away and as tradition we put an altar with a lot of elements, some prehispanic, some from colonial times, some from revolution (like The Catrinas) and some from present times.

When I was about to put the altar with my family I have the idea of made a photo from each one of the elements and represent de meaning of each one in the figure of The Catrinas.

This way I made the representation of elements like: Light, Cempasuchil (Flower), Incense, water, salt, fruit, food, bread, candy, and photography, each one of these guide, purify and create memories for the souls of the dead relatives who visit home and go back to rest.

I had to made this pictures in one day because I had the elements just for a moment before I put it in the altar the same day.

It was a great moment, And the make up?… Well like I have no proper make up at the time… I had to added it digitally to the pictures, but the challenge was to make every one different and representative, it was fun and magic.

Thanks you for read my story and hope you like this pictures. Have an amazing day!
