I Illustrate Pets Into Their Nicknames

I started with my own furry crews nicknames: Dave the Drag Queen, Petrie The Queen and River, aka Bug and Cheeky Monkey. It then grew to much more. This was at a time when I had given up corporate life wanting to pursue the art I have been creating my entire life. It was also unfortunately at the same time that my lung had collapsed numerous times, I was hospitalised and with a diagnosis of a rare genetics illness Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and Fibromyalgia, I couldn’t work. Depression kicked in when I couldn’t move or leave my house, when the pain doesn’t go away, when you want to be ‘normal’, so I chose to channel the style of illustrations for those who inspire me to keep fighting and keep going. From Mental health and Body positive advocates to Nobel Peace Prize Winners and Transgender Prom Queens, I create art to help others know how much I appreciate them.
