On the first day of class at schools everywhere, there is the inevitable passing out of the syllabus: that large, stapled stack of paper that outlines every detail of the class in 11-point font. But despite holding such important information, the syllabus is often tossed away or lost in the shuffle of all the other papers students stuff into their backpacks. So I designed one that you won’t want to throw out!
The basic idea was a bookmark, something that is meant to stay inside books. By determining the most essential info a student would need, such as class times, location, the teacher’s contact number, it was enough to fit on one single page. Then I designed the bookmark to fold together into three tabs to organize the information. I made a series of five, one for each of the major subjects, so they can be easily identified using the graphics at the top of each syllabus. This revamped syllabus is colorful, informative, and easily stored at the back of a textbook, and won’t be tossed away or lost after the first day!
