Over the year, in many parts of Romania, people celebrates in traditional way different aspects of life such as : the main religios holydays and the changing of seasons with festivals that have remained unchanged for centuries. Folkways are very well preserved here. Young street-performers and celebrants are wearing the same costumes and they are dancing the same steps to songs played on instruments as they ancestors did.At one festival like that I captured portraits of young villagers parading in their traditional costumes, groups of boys dancing while wearing large cow-bells, meant to drive away evil spirits and chanting tunes that welcome the new year. This serie of photographs was captured in Maramures county, Romania in December 2017. Here in Maramures, centuries-old traditions are strongly rooted in the local culture.

Wish you all A Happy New Year!
