As an artist I am always keen to show off my art to best effect. So, I use some beautiful interior design stock images (with permission) which look fabulous on my website. However, in reality whose home looks like that? My husband and I have laughed at the ‘whiteness’ of it all, no cat and dog hairs, no chewed toys on the floor, everything beautifully lined up. They obviously don’t have a kitten with a tendency to throw a cushion (throw pillow) on the floor and a dog waiting to grab it and rip it to shreds. So, for fun, I have started creating a group of room settings from real houses and inserting my art into those. And do you know what? The art looks just as good. What do you think – leave a comment below – what would I find if I took a shot of your living room? This is a great idea for other artists to use. I have seen some other great examples of how an artist's work looks 'on location'; and some terrible ones. If you're gonna do it, do it right! :)
Oh, and to add images to your signature just grab the image from your hard drive. Click on the Camera when you post a reply.
