One police officer died directly as a result of the insurrectionists. Because there was a large violent mob attacking the police, it's difficult to pinpoint exactly who is responsible. But that does not absolve the mob, it simply means it would be hard to make criminal charges stick against any one individual for the crimes committed that day. Another officer committed suicide within the week. Far more officers had serious injuries resulting from the insurrectionists. Including but not limited to: heart attacks, loss of an eye, loss of fingers, spinal injuries, chemical burns, and stab wounds. That doesn't even take into account the PTSD that many of the officers are dealing with. Everyone saw what happened on January 6th, so please stop with this "fake news" nonsense. The people who stormed that building were absolutely trespassing. There was an attempted insurrection and thank God it was unsuccessful. It's horrifying how quickly some are trying to diminish what happened that day.
