When I was a kid, my mom was married to this horrible abusive piece of s**t of a human. He would regularly degrade my brother and I, and 'tease' us, which consisted of him punching my arm, pulling my hair and pinching us. That was when he was being nice. When he was angry, most of the time plastered, it was a different story. When this happened, my brother end I would leave the house, but sometimes we couldn't get out. The scariest occasion, I was 8 my brother 10, my mom's ex was actively trying to kill us. He was yelling and I started crying, ya know, because I was 8, and that set him off. He was calling me ungrateful and a bunch of other bulls**t. My brother was trying to lead us out of the house, but he was blocking the way. Our only recourse was our bedroom. He chased us, but we were able to get to our bedroom. We had to barricade the door. Pushing the dresser in front of the door while my mom's ex was banging on the door demanding us to cone out. He was yelling that 'when he got through the door we were f**king dead.' We were petrified, scared he was going to get through. Even though there was a dresser and a few other things in front of the door, it wasn't exactly sturdy and we thought he might make it through. With all the might an 8 year old has, I pushed against the door while my brother was trying to get the window open so we could escape. It was locked and actually too small for us to get through. Luckily, (and not the first time) one of our neighbors called the cops and took him away. This wasn't the first time this happened, but it was the most violent episode. Because of that, I truly believed my mom when she said that she would leave him. He was there the next morning. For some info, it took 5 more years, but my mom did eventually leave him. She has made amends and I understand why she acted the way she did. She was damaged. She's a wonderful person, and 20 years later got married to a wonderful man that she deserves and I'm proud to call my step father.

This Monday was probably the scariest for me because I was almost about to end it all. There was also the time I was seriously planning on running away last year which was also scary. The scariest moment for me was when my father dangled me from the balcony from the 4th floor when I was 7 because I was a bit rude to my mom
