Hey Pandas What Is Your Favorite 80s Song (Closed)

Not a whole lot of german bands became well known in Australia , Einsturzende Neubauten, I'm familiar with (didn't one of their members work with Nick Cave? Can't remember his name.... Began with a B ?), I've heard of Die Krupps..... There were a lot of random german punk and hardcore bands I knew of .... Kraftwerk were well known everywhere..... Of course, Nina Hagen was always on alternative radio.... And Die Totenhosen ( the dead trousers?) !! Just an edit.... The Australian band "The Church" ? They were the mainstay of Australian Gothic,in the 80s...i I know they were pretty big in UK.... But how about the rest of Europe? Always wondered about their importance in the scheme of things, so to speak?

Somehow I have "always" known The Church (didn't know they were Australian though), but I actually don't know why, as I can't say they are/were ever played at "my" clubs. As far as I know they've never been really popular in Germany and I've never heard anyone talking about them having an influence on German bands. *Birgit M does some research* It seems there was a pretty successful tour of Europe in 1982 and a also a contract with a French label, but after that.... Nothing much! (Favourite song btw: Constant In Opal)

Oh no, of all the bands it was Die Toten Hosen who made it?! (Their name does indeed translate to dead trousers, but „Tote Hose“ is a German idiom (rather old fashioned) for a boring atmosphere/nothing going on.) The artist from Neubauten and The Bad Seeds is Blixa Bargeld! Cool guy! …but it seems you had to party without songs like "kill your ideals“, "container love“ or "Annie flies the love bomber“ (all by Phillip Boa)! That‘s really bad! 🙂
