It depends on the poison, the form it takes and conditions of storage. Cyanide capsules from WWII for example, are just as deadly now as the day they were made. Your standard Rat poison pellets, kept in it's cardboard box and stored in a damp shed, would loose it's toxicity over time. TETS has been banned (pretty much world wide) since the early 1980's as it was found that even after being consumed it remained toxic and could contaminate and poison it's way up the food chain!
