It is way past time we do something about people who should not be parents. Every day the news has a story about people neglecting and killing their children. Should we require a test before we allow people to have a child? I don't have a good answer, I only know the problem needs to be addressed.
Thing is, unless the parents are being viciously vile and neglectful to their kids, who is anyone to say someone shouldn't be parents. Sure, there are parents who could benefit taking a parenting course. Thing is, people get bent out of shape over how parents want to raise their own kids, in which they have right to. Just like how our parents parented us, and their parents parented them. No generation had mastered parenting to perfection that benefited both society, the parents and the kid. There's always someone who's going to have a negative opinion. Also, I'm just going to put it out there, because this has ended up being a terrible thing put in place. Birth alerts have been a thing in Canada, or at least in Manitoba. It's basically an alert when a pregnant women of questionable background or lifestyle goes into labour and authorities and CFS is called to immediately apprehend the baby moments after birth. I'm sure this system has saved some babies, but what has come to light is
the unfair standards and discriminatory/predatory situations that some women have been put on birth alerts for. Race (particularly indigenous), age, income class, childhood background, their parent's childhood background, previous involvement in the foster system and their parent's involvement in the foster system. You don't have to have a history of addiction and substance abuse, nor ever have had a criminal record and still have a birth alert placed on you. The saddest part is babies are not always safe in the foster system. These newborns are not placed for adoption immediately. Some have died in the care of the system when they could have been safe with their bio parents. There's really not a singular perfect solution to keeping kids safe. Also, a parent could ace a parenting test and still be abusive and neglectful out of their own will. I do think there should be more resources to help overwhelmed parents, better access to mental health care, and getting rid of the stigma of taking parenting classes. Parenting classes should be mandated in schools and more supports should be offered to teens, especially teen couples thinking of taking steps further into their relationship. We just allow these teens to navigate it all on their own. On another note, adults having kids when they're not ready nor want them are no better than a teen having babies. The difference is usually the adult isn't under the microscope like a teen parent is. Immature adult parents get away with so much more because they don't have social services in their life automatically, and people generally look at adult parents as being wiser and more capable at parenting than a teen, so no one bats an eye when they smack their kids or berate them for something as mundane as burping in public.
Load More Replies...While it is in theory, an excellent idea, actually executing this test on a large scale would be a massive violation of ethics. In order to prevent people who haven't taken or passed the test from having children, you would likely need to perform some sort of reversible surgical or chemical birth control before they are capable of having children. And this is where the ethics come in. These procedures would be invasive, and massive violation of human rights.
Lionel Messi or Cristiano Ronaldo... Also it's AmazingAries, my mum found my acc but I sneaked back on!
If I had to pick Lionel Messi. I haven't heard anything too bad. But I don't follow soccer players very much in the media. I just find Ronaldo has shown to have an explosive fit towards fans, among other things.

Vegemite (Australian here). Most people who don't know just pile the stuff on their bread/toast, and that's why they don't like it. It's not peanut butter. You only need a smidge, and it will taste good. Do it right people
