We all go along with things that don’t really make sense. What’s something you’re tired of pretending is normal?

That our democracy has turned into a dictatorship and cruelty is now "strength."

As an Aussie, I see the POTUS doing whatever he wants regardless of laws or rules... and getting away with it. Sad to see the US in this condition. One person ruling you all and turning the whole country into what HE wants it to be. A multiple bankrupt 'businessman' and felon and adulterer and ... the list is too long :(

My wife was big about this. I always tried to enforce the "3 stories" rule. There's the kid's story, the teacher's story, and the truth lies somewhere in between.

Billionaires have rightfully earned all that money through their own hard work and deserve tax cuts.

I doubt they believe they earned it, which is part of the problem. Income tax is different from wealth tax but they sure as hęll behave as if it’s ok to have such a hideous income and wealth disparity. Thank you Ronnie Reagan for deciding the top earnings bracket should have a stupidly low tax rate and George HW for pretending inheritance taxes were death taxes.

Overworking yourself just to be able to afford to survive. By my understanding, most places around the world the average person is having to work themselves to the bone just to be able to survive. Not enjoy themselves, not make their lives better for their children, but just to keep their household afloat.

I think the US is the top level of that. I wonder how many people realize that minimum wage is supposed to support adults, not 16 year old summer job holders?

Politicians trash talking entitlement programs, aka social safety net. Yes, they *are* entitlements. We are entitled to social security. We are entitled to food and housing security. We are entitled to health care. We pay taxes and I can’t think of anything better to spend it on than people.

Do we? I think “they”, MAGA hats do. I suspect the majority of the world’s population don’t. Here I am, suggesting another podcast but this time, The Bugle. John Oliver and Andy Zaltzman started it but, as plenty of you know, John Oliver is frying bigger fish in the US. There’s now a rotating cast of comedians from England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, India, New Zealand, the US, and now, Canada. I’ve been listening for years but I’m constantly stunned by how much of US politics is known world wide. 8 out of 10 Cats is a UK show that will also surprise the average American by the depth and breadth of the panel’s awareness of what the heck is going on here. I highly recommend The Bugle.

This happened decades, if not centuries, ago. Don't blame it all on the last couple of years, you've had politicians of both sides in charge who've done nothing about it.

Having to pick up after customers who leave stuff all over the place for the workers to pick up. It's so bad all of production is called out to the sales floor to clean up. We can't tell people to put things back on a hanger or tidy up after themselves. Even other customers complain about the mess.

Also, parents allowing kids to tear around the store, dropping them off at the toy section and leaving them there to break, toss and scatter stuff all over. The toy section is not a daycare, and the toys are not free to open and play with, but it's been normalized by the parents.

Standard women's clothing. I think we are by now all aware of the pocket problem. Please let me have jeans I can put my cellphone, or at least my keys in, which still fit me. Obligatory Bras even when you wouldn't need them for support. Also, bras that are not supportive but rather strangling. Having a hard time finding flat but still elegant shoes. Standard shoe-sizes stopping at 40 or 41 (7.5 or 8). "Plussize" starting at L or XL, about the average women's size. Just in general, looks being regarded as more important than comfort in so many ways.

    Alcohol consumption.

Every event you attend - party, celebration, business event, whatever - has alcohol and you are invited to drink. You are the weirdo if you don't: "Are you sick or what?" It's like we all agreed to use this substance and make it socially acceptable.

In reality alcohol makes you develop a*******n, just like any other substance that alters brain's neuro-chemistry. Your brain fights to cancel it; the more you drink, the more efficient your brain becomes in cancelling the effect the of alcohol intake.

It also has a sedative effect; why do we sedate ourselves in moments of joy?

Oh, and if alcohol a*******n gets out of control, it's your fault: we told to drink on every occasion, but not to drink that much on every occasion... 🙄

The idea that it is perfectly acceptable, and the right thing to do, to openly hate on anyone who has a differing opinion. Whether that's in matters of politics, religion, education, sports, or even just preferences of music.

This whole "if you don't think like I think, then you're a (insert offensive word of your choice here)" tribalism, it's getting old.

Sorry, but if your opinion is racist, sexist, homophobic, believe that little girls should get married, or otherwise a general stance of hatred for large swaths of humanity, I'm going to immediately hate you. I won't hate you for your religion, I may pity you for it, but unless you're using your religion to repress others, that's your own business. I could care less about sports, and will only feel pity if you didn't get the advantage of a good education.

Civility and "You go low, we go high". Not fighting back for ourselves and our rights. Letting the enemy walk all over us because we follow rules that they do not.

Sometimes, you need to meet them at their level. It doesn't "bring you down" to fight back. It lets them win if you don't.
