It's that time of the year when you should be doing something a little more special than linguine (again) or grabbing a pizza on the way home from work. What was your special?

Yesterday I made a lemon cake. In order to keep it simple, two layers of cake with a healthy smoosh of lemon jam in between. No icing (I'm not really a fan of icing, to be honest).

Today (as I celebrate Yule), a personal tradition: A Fray Bentos "Just Chicken" pie, along with veg. This time it was peas and carrots and broccoli. It was, actually, really easy to make. The pie went into the oven in its tin, and the veg was from three frozen packs. I just emptied them into a pan of boiling water and left it churning for six or seven minutes.

And, of course, ridiculous amounts of tea. 🫖

Here's a photo. It is tinted to the red because the only light in the room is coming from a candle holder (the iron thing you can see in the centre-back). Five candles of light for ambience. 1766323186...8c5ca7.jpg 1766323186944-6947f618c5ca7.jpg
