It really helps if you buy a tee shirt for them. Cats included. Don't spend your money on those expensive, commercially made pet vests/ Just get an adult or child's tee and put it on them. Not tight, but a bit snug. It feels like a hug and makes them feel more secure. For an extra bonus, wear a shirt of the same color so they see you're all Matchy-matchy. Play with them. Keep them engaged and their mind off the noise. Teach them a game were if they knock a cup over or run a certain lap, they get a treat. Do this to distract them when you need to. If worse comes to worse, you can get some mild sedatives from the vet for them. Games and hugs and putting on music or the TV is better.
