Hey Pandas. I Just Need To Vent

So, I’m a satanist, and I hate the taboo about it. Let me give you an example:
Me: yeah, so I’m satanist
Everyone: ugh. Why do you worship the devil
Me: well, I don’t worship-
Them: ugh
They don’t even know the rules. Some of the rules are:
Don’t give your opinion unless asked
Don’t harm children
Don’t rape
Am I being dramatic or no?

Share on FacebookEh, I'd say "I belong to the Church of Satan, which doesn't ascribe to any particular religious beliefs and doesn't truly deify the angel, Lucifer, but instead uses the guide of religion to fight for the rights of ALL people, regardless of their religious beliefs. America is not supposed to be a theocracy and frankly, the Church of Satan is fighting hard to keep the separation of church and state alive and well." There was a great documentary on Hulu about them and Lucien Greaves. I've donated and am a "member"; I definitely don't believe in Satan just like I don't ascribe to any other Christian beliefs but I do believe in the core tenets of "Satanism", which are basically just run of the mill humanist beliefs, and I do think that what they're fighting for is important.
Well, if you live in the US, then most Americans believe the Christian idea that Satan is the embodiment of evil. Real Satanists are few and far between, so most people have never knowingly met any. The only thing they’ll hear their whole lives is that Satan and his followers are evil, and many will believe the myths about human sacrifice, pedophilia and possession. I know that most Satanists don’t believe in a literal Satan, and many have no supernatural beliefs at all. You’ve got an uphill battle. It’s not fair, but in the culture we live in, it’s going to be on you be the patient one.
I'm sorry if u offended anyone, but I am trying to open up, and you all are trying to push me down because you assume I live in the US and don't expect people to think of Satan as evil. I DO. That's why these things happen and I have to explain everything.
Calls their "religion" after the most common symbol of evil. Surprised that people are not enthusiastic. Expects people to read their mind. Dramatic? Idk, probably. Childish? For sure. Sounds like somebody who has no idea what real problems are.
I'm trying to find a safe place online where I can vent MY problems, but sure, I'm being childish for wanting to actually explain. And it is as much as a religion as Christianity or Buddhism, so quit being a karen.
Load More Replies...The word "Satan" has been used as the name of the adversary of God, the embodiment of evil, for around 2.500 years. If you choose to call yourself a "Satanist", you shouldn't be surprised when people think you're using the word to mean what it has always meant. There are many secular organizations that advocate for religious freedom. Join one of those if that's what's important to you. If you're in it because you like dressing goth and shocking old people, then you get what you get.
Well, folks fear what they don't understand, and when they hear "satan" they prejudge and nope right out. It's not fair or right but when it comes to religion or lack there of, folks get twitchy. On the other hand, folks have the right to choose who they want to be around and if they want to judge you on that one thing, do you really wanna hang with them?
