It is often touted as a modern classic, a fantastic piece of literature but why? Am I missing something? The characters are unlikable and royally up themselves. There is a murder early on which acts as a catalyst for future events, but that falls by the wayside and practically forgotten. There is no justice for what happens, and the drama is down to people not speaking to each other for five minutes and sorting anything out. It is not badly written and there are moments of dark humour I like, I just cannot see what others apparently see and love?
