There’s a very thin line between what’s funny and what’s not. Home Depot Canada pulls ‘Scary Peeper Creeper’ decoration from shelves because it’s too… scary! This Halloween prop was designed to be used as a prank, but it received customer complaints and one of them even contacted CBC News. “I fail to see the humour in it,” Breanne Hunt-Wells, a concerned teacher and mother of two, said during her interview. “It makes light of a very serious crime. Voyeurism is a crime in Canada.”
Eventually, Home Depot reacted to the situation and removed the product from their assortment in Canada. Ironically, this is probably the best recognition a Halloween prop can receive. However, if you want to give somebody a heart attack, it’s still available to purchase in the US.

And just so that lady in Canada knows..... Voyeurism is a crime here too, the people who do it have the potential to go much worse. BUT!!! incase she didn't see it IT'S A P*****G DECORATION, NOT A PEEPING TOM! I use my recycling to make deadbolts in trash bags to throw in people's yards? Funny no one has checked to see if there is an actual body in there and no one has called the police..... this is a funny decor and yes you shouldn't give people heart attacks with him, but light hearted fun against a friend or family member isn't anything worse then those damn clown pranks, or the chuckle little person in the advertisement sign. And others you can find on youtube..... Lighten up people, it's Halloween out there and scary pranks are part of the season. Stop being such whiners and crybabies, I mean damn..... people used to have backbones, now every time something gives you hair on your chest you stage a complaint online and call for removals...... no wonder the world has turned into th
Sorry about the miss spellings, my auto correct is done by Samsung and it makes the DUMBEST changes. (Deadbolts =Deadbodies)
Load More Replies...I didn't know Halloween was meant to be more humorous than it is scary
No!! No Halloween costumes or decorations will be taken down because of your snowflakes! Halloween is supposed to be a scary time of year, not just a night for your little precious to beg strangers for sweets!
That thing would give me a heart attack if I saw it in my window lol. That is the point of Halloween tho ;)
If I've seen sometimes like this at night trough my window I've probably had heart attack.
isnt that supposed to be its purpose? i dont understand some people lol
. “It makes light of a very serious crime. Voyeurism is a crime in Canada.”... Yeah, so is Murder and Cannibalism, or at least I hope it's the case in Canada as I am not native to Canada. But when you start arguing in this way, you can start to pull down decorations featuring serialkillings, murder scenes, graveyards, decorations with fake corpses. And I always think Halloween is also about playing with our fears. Okay, this decoration is scary, and it wouldn't have scared the living s**t out of me, but I wouldn't have complained about it so long until it gets taken from the shelves. I have sometimes the feeling there are too many people with too much time on their hands, complaining about really banal things.
I had a peeping tom once and that sort of thing still scares the hell out of me!
It's not that it's scary, it's that it's mimicking a sex crime. It's not funny, it's not "too scary", it's in exceptionally poor taste. How about I park a white van with "free candy" on the side outside your house, and try to explain that's it's just a prank and you've got no sense of humour, while standing there in my clown costume. Sorry, but the "best thing to happen" to someone's product is not to be reviled, not to be pulled from every store in Canada, and not to reveal its creators to be misogynists.
