Neighbor Asks Couple To Watch Her Dog “For A Few Days,” Disappears When They Try To Return Him
Good neighbors are honestly worth their weight in gold. Whether it’s someone you occasionally grab a coffee with, chat to over the fence, or trust enough to hold a spare key, that kind of relationship can make a huge difference. You never really know when an emergency is going to hit, and it can be a total lifesaver to have someone close by who’s willing to help.
That’s exactly why one couple didn’t hesitate to step in when their neighbor’s mom was suddenly rushed to the hospital and she had to fly out at a moment’s notice. They took in her dog and agreed to look after him for a few days. But now she’s stopped answering their calls and messages, the dog is still with them, and they have no idea what they’re supposed to do next.

For the sake of the dog, I would kennel it and if I don't "get the money back" (OP's exact words) so be it. That's just me. And I can always make room for another dog.

The final comment from OP: The dog is at the vet and they said they would scan and contact his owner if he has a chip. One of the receptionists recognised him so they know the owner is a customer. I’ve blocked my neighbours number so she can’t contact me to complain. Thanks for all the advice.

Ty for that , I’d be keeping the poor dog myself mind and I’d even cancel the holiday ,but said neighbour would never get her dog back that’s for sure !! any dog as comes though my door stays til other pass to rainbow bridge, even my foster dogs lol that said as she’s in uk a shelter would take him in an emergency,I’ve worked in rescue still kinda do . even in such times like the mum passing you do not forget your pets EVER .they are like your kids n you wouldn’t dump them would you 🤷♀️hope the little furbaby is doing ok x

can I just add, that you need to have a social net for your dog? friends, neighbours you know, or family, that can take the dog if you are ill or something? you need backup! If I have a work function mine goes to MIL, if I have a migraine walky buddies take him for a walk (same goes for the dogs of my walky buddies). there is always some reason why you need support
