I Capture Grandparents With Their Grandkids Because No One Ever Photographed Me With Mine (27 Pics)
When I look back at all my family photo albums, there is not a single image I find with my grandparents. There are images with mom, dad, my brother... even with my dog and a stray cat whom we had adopted... but seriously none with my grandpa and grandma. And those were the two people I loved the most... I still do, even after they are long gone.
And so, I have sworn that whichever part of the world I will travel to now... I will make sure to photograph a grandparent or great grandparent with their grandchild... for how often really do we get our grandparents into the frame?!
And not only has this project helped me rebuild memories of my childhood in a way... meeting and interacting with all the elderlies has really taught me so much about life.
I hope you like some of these images that I share here.

I wonder if they are great-grandparents or just got kids at high age. All seems so old, most of the grandparents to toddlers I see is in their 50s or so.
Arn't those the kittens who lost there mittens? Now I know where they gone to
At first I looked at the picture and thought, Wait what? Why is the baby’s legs so weird??? Then I looked again 😂
Oh my lord I remember those days. Hated it then, remember the moments fondly now.
As a great grandma, I am not in many pictures, as I am the one with the camera, always !!!
This just reminds me of how hard lockdown is for so many families :(
As my great grandson, was about one and a half, I took him outside often, wanted him to start learning about nature, I gave him a tiny flower to hold, told him it was a pretty flower, a leaf , or a pebble, it was such a joy, I was Blesses !!!
I do wish the photo editing hadn't smoothed out Grandma's hair into a soft blur and added lip gloss to the baby. That aside, it's a sweet picture.
The pictures are really nice but a bit over-done, a little less afterwork would still keep them nice but more natural.
Should be rated higher! There is endless wonder and surprise, understanding and loving adoration between older people and babies and children... we should all be so patient and kind with each other
Absolutely beautiful portraits! The lighting is just right on all of them.
These are just lovely. It would be cool to have them side by side with pictures of the grandparents as parents, maybe even recreating some of the older pictures as a generational thing, and creating a new tradition.
I feel these elders are great or great, great Grandparents. Our family of five generations age baby, 25, 52, 70, 90 when baby was born. Such a Joy to have the five generations together!
These are beautiful. I only wish I could have had a moment like this with my grandmother as well.
A wonderful post, great idea, some of the photos would be fabulous framed !!!
Incredible photos. Absolutely a worthwhile venture capturing the interaction between the grand parents and the children. I must admit as a person in my late 40's that there is a tinge of envy in me because none of this was done when i was a child.
I just love how they’re all captured with love, light and gentleness with an added touch of kittens, cats, and doggies.
Stunning. I hope more people do this so they too capture loved ones with grand kids and great grand kids...so important for the next generation and family history.....beautiful work:)
That's sad, and for those who don't get these photographs, remember that life is really short. My kids take photos of my husband and I all the time with our two beautiful wonderful granddaughters aged Almost 20years and the 2nd aged 9 months. We are truly blessed
I was fortunate to have photos taken with my grandparents, and I made sure this happened with my own children; and now my son includes me in many photos with my own grandchildren. This is a special relationship which can be of immense benefit to both parties, and the bond between distant generations is important. Having photos is a way to keep this precious relationship alive beyond the years remaining in their lives. The photos captured here are absolutely beautiful as well as touching to this grandmother's heart.
INo one etook pics of me either w/ kids...my feeling were always shattered.
This is why I come back to BP, these stories / pictures touch me deeply. One couldn't do any better than this to share "life" and what's really the most important. I love these pictures so much.
A thought of mine, the photos with the babies and toddlers are precious, however, time spent together is cherished but the children will not remember the wonderful days, a shame, therefore, at least photos will be there as parents tell the grown children about their grandparents, depending on the ages, some may have memories !!!
Just love all of the pictures. What great stories they capture of both past and present. Thank you!
I think they're all lovely just the way they are, thank you for sharing.
there's an ethereal quality to them. don't know if that was intended or not but I like it.
Absolutely Gorgeous...brought Tears to my eyes AND made me smile..thank you for shairng!!
These are some of the best I have seen, the photos are great as they captured the beauty of emotion and love , wonderful post, most enjoyable, busy lives today, not enough time with grandparents !!!
So truly beautiful brought tears to my eyes.... But I must say im a grandma to 2 Earthly Angels and one heavenly one I dont look like any of these beautiful grandparents... Maybe do some of the younger generation of Grandparents Also... Just a thought
Every time I visit my parents with my kids I forget to take pictures :-( These are lovely. I'd like to know the technique(s) used.
These remind me of Norman Rockwell paintings. https://duckduckgo.com/?q=norman+rockwell+paintings&atb=v14&iax=images&ia=images .
I'm confused how all the "grandparents" seem to be 80-90 years old, and the "grandchildren" are toddlers. Their actual grandparents would most likely be 50-60 years old, based on the average age of childbearing people.
Absolutely stunning! The love you've captured in each picture just shines out. Lovely stuff!
Beautiful! I miss my grandparents so much. Cherish every moment you can. Grandparents are the wisest people with so many stories to tell.
This makes me remember my great grandma. I didn't get to see her often since she lived in the north and I live in Florida. She didn't speak English much, and wasn't very affectionate, but my mom said she was so happy to have great grand kids and was so proud of us. I have some of her crocheting somewhere.
i know i will get dislikes for this but, oh well...it's too much photoshop for my liking... it looks surreal almost like a painting... i get that it's the photographer's art style but if i want to look back at old nice memories of people i loved, i do not want them to look blurry, fake, and fairytale like.
This may be because of a vain grandma who doesn't want any "old" photos of her and deletes photos you took of her and her granddaughter on your phone because she thinks she looks fat in them. My mother would test this photographer's patience more than a fussy toddler.
