I believe the point was the neighbor was harassing him because she could and not because he or his lifestyle was in anyway disruptive. First, calling security and undoubtedly describing him as a "Mexican looking guy" trespassing in the neighborhood. Then when he declared he was not Mexican, she picked something else to harass him about. No one said either was okay.

I think they mean he's not running around with a rainbow cape or making out with guys on her front lawn.

Is there any possible way anything can be worded without offending some of you? At some point you have to breathe deep and accept that sometimes things aren't worded in an intentionally offensive way, and that, in order to live in peace and tolerance and not spend every waking hour analyzing and feeling hurt about every single word, you just have to learn to live with it. Believe it or not, you've probably unintentionally offended people, yourself. It happens. We're human.

It's also the Spanish word for whore. It makes more sense, even though it's mentioned that his mum is half Portuguese, that he is insulting in Spanish because "he is Mexican" (according to his racist neighbor).

Given it's the same word in both lanaguages, I suspect the write doesn't know that, and just assumed it must be from Spanish, based on a complete lack of knowledge of the Portuguese language. It actually makes more sense that he learned this word from his mum.

Maybe they're trying to say he wasn't bothering anybody. Some gay people are too openly sexual, and too openly... open. I respect everyone's right to be gay as long as they respect my right to not give a f**k about who they are and what they choose to suck.
