So if there are THIRTY instances...why is it surprising that librarians have a sense of humor? Or is it that you do not go to the library and had some misconceptions about the library and were surprised that your assumption were wrong. Yes I am a librarian, and yes, I am calling you out for likely not a being a regular at a library but yet making a commit on them, which although made in humor, is still offensive and wrong. Spend a little more time at a library, there is probably quite a bit more that will surprise you.

I just wanted to say that libraries are no longer "citadels of silence" they are noisy community hubs with lots of chatter and laughter (there is usually a quiet study area set aside). But in this day and age you will never get shushed for talking in a public library (unless it's so loud it's echoing on the other side of the library). By saying that it is a "citadel of silence"... Your just perpetuating that incorrect stereotype, when libraries are working so hard to change that and show the truth.

I literally got shushed for talking normally in my local library last week. Unless you are the ambassador for all libraries the world over then you can't sit there and call someone out on something that you don't know all the facts about directly.

Swear to god, I'm working in a bookstore and an old lady asked if we had a book, from when she was a little girl, it was blue and had a teddy bear on the cover. She'd like to give it to a grandchild for Christmas. It was Dec 24th.

Working at a library was my all time dream job. We had a fantastic staff with tons of great ideas. One of my favorite quotes: Libraries will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no libraries. we had a great staff with tons of fun ideas. i love libraries!

Last year near Valentine's Day, my library had a display of wrapped books. It said "go home with a blind date". The books had the genre on them and a vague description.
