Life in the big house has never been a stroll in the park. You learn to sleep with one eye open and the most you can pray for every night is to see the morning sunrise. Living in the state penitentiary system is an oxymoron, there is no living here, you just do your time and hope you don’t die before you get out, that’s if you get out. It’s Hell on earth. Johnny Cash wrote a song about walking the line in prison, and I’ll tell ya, it’s not a grocery line and it’s no cake walk either. Robert Blake had a catchy jingle in his television show “Baretta”, “Don’t do the crime, if you can’t do the time!” Words to live by. Once you’ve made it inside the gates, you’ll never make it out.
