In this short video, I spent some time with the team at the Bonsai Art Museum in Omiya. Omiya is considered by many to be the Bonsai capital of the world, with its world famous Bonsai Village and neighbouring Museum.

In the video, I took a look at some of the most interesting pieces of art at the museum, learnt a bit about the history, explored some techniques in the creation of Bonsai, and got a one-of-a-kind look into the museum.

Some of the trees featured in the video have their own histories, inspirations, and peculiarities. For example, one of the trees is meant to represent one of the most famous works of art created in Japan – can you guess what it is?

I very much recommend visiting the museum on a quiet day when you need a break from the noise and liveliness of Tokyo. A quaint walk around the Museum and village will definitely put some things into perspective and give you a calm chance to reflect on some of the most incredible art around – the manipulation of nature.
