I’ve taken a few pictures of the spring of Japan. Spring in Japan begins with blooming of plum trees.

Share on FacebookPlum trees? I'm pretty sure Japan is known for its spring cherry blossoms. During my six and a half years in Yokosuka, I remember seeing many cherry blossoms, but no plum blossoms.
They're plums (though technically a relative of the apricot) prunus mume or Ume in Japanese and they are *almost* as popular as Sakura. They bloom earlier than Sakura, tending to begin in February and smell much better imo.
Load More Replies...They are plum trees. :) And there's a ton of them, if you know where to look. They are not as prominent as Sakura though.
Japan in the spring is absolutely stunning. These shots are breathtaking. ~AM
It is beautiful but I do not like the smell of Jasmine, it really upsets my breathing.
Pretty dark spring! Beautiful photos, though they do not have the feeling of spring or of flowers to me.
It appears to me that the dark ones were taken at night. I did the same thing in Yokosuka with a similar result ..... but I could be wrong. :)
Load More Replies...I think this title should read, "I used a lot of special effects, HDR, and filters to make spring look unrealistically beautiful in Japan." I've seen many springs in Japan and they are beautiful, but this is fiction. Can't we experience the world as it is rather than as some souped up, unrealistic image that is supposed to make it "better?"
