Digital Artist Drømsjel Transforms Vintage Advertisements Into Surreal Artworks

German artist Pierre Schmidt, known as Drømsjel, creates intricate and surreal collages, digitally “melted” into vintage trips.

His work on collages usually connects contrasting elements as old botanic illustrations and snippets from fashion magazine, turned into a coehsive and homogeneous form through the digital intervention.

His works are focused on the contrast between innocence, beauty and the dark subconscious: “Like in that great opening sequence of David Lynch’s movie Blue Velvet. Here, we are introduced to a compellingly harmonic and perfect world. If we dare to look closer, however, it’s not at all as beautiful as it seemed to be.”
