Dávid Lados – New Moon

“Mystery, power, fear, dynamism – these ideas has inspired me in creating my series, in which the presence of opposing forces are met – light and darkness, gravity and weightlessness. The continuous ambvivalence is granted by the almost inexplicable lightining effect as well as by the collision of the untouched nature. My work’s title is New Moon, as during this moon phase I had the opportunity to work in minimal ambient light, thereby the light of the object performed thegreatest contrast. A special light effect can be seen on these pictures, which reflects the structure of the given space under the force of Earth gravity. Due to this the attention of the viewer is concentrates not only to the ligth line, but to the milieu lit by the line. To create this series my main technique was the so-called ‘light-painting’, as one of the popular contemporary photographic genre. The essence of this innovative technique is that the painting canvas is the picture itself in form of raw material and the light functions as the brush. The picture resulted by this techinque is more likely a graphical virtuosity then photography in the traditional sense. A personally designed and implemented, 360 degree spherical lighting ball can be seen on the photos.”
