Twirling, leaping, swaying. Dance is magical, something that sets your soul free. A universal language everyone speaks. Dance has the power to make you feel whole and complete. For many, dance is a passion and for me, dance is a source of creativity. From ballet to tap dance to hip-hop and beyond, all types of dance can fulfill a passion and yet, somehow it’s both personal and communal and a complete mystery to me.
As an artist, can I capture movement in the stillness of my medium? Even though my dance card is empty and my ability for natural rhythm is non-existent, I was determined as an arrhythmic artist to explore this proposition.
My admiration and envy of dancers lead me to a new painting series on wood. The dynamism and expressiveness of dance whether it’s a celebratory, cultural or free style dance; the art form plays a vital global role. So, could I capture dance; the expression of the human body shaping movement in space and time? I welcomed the challenge.

I like a lot of these. Personally, I cannot draw for s**t. My father however went to art school in Manchester (including a couple of lessons with Lowry) and has sold a few paintings in his life.. anyhoos.... long story short, he also went on to teach certain art techniques in oils and pastels.. mainly focusing on capturing movement. I think he'd like these for that reason.... you can see the movement.
