I disagree -- we should overthink it! : It would be relatively easy to overlook the weird, lined-up ears of corn at first glance. First off, they're -behind- the cashier, and second... they're laying flat on the floor. From the perspective of a patron at the register, the corn would appear to be just a pile of discarded ears of corn -a very common sight at any given pumpkin patch/corn maze. Furthermore, typically when attending a pumpkin patch (the most common place for a corn maze), there are many different buildings, activities, eating areas, and as many signs, pulling your eyes and attention in many different directions. Heck children get lost at these places! It could be easy for an average joe to walk up to the booth and think, "Ok, it says there's a corn maze nearby, but I don't see it, but I trust that the staff will direct me in the proper direction to the start of the maze." Then only to have my assumptions smashed -much like is depicted here in this cartoon. A+
