I Finish My Daughters’ Paintings

My name is Nomeda Ciurlionyte. I am a Lithuanian artist. I came to live in Ukraine 6 years ago. My 2 daughters were born here. Since a very early age my little ones showed an enormous interest in painting. So I have decided to make an experiment.

I gave them paint, brushes and canvases and my daughters started painting. When they cover white canvases with the first layer of paint, I look at what they have done and different worlds and images appear. My paintings are a reflection of feelings, life situations and a hidden glimpses of beauty.

I love the style of your art, so bold and vibrant. I also think it's great that you let your kids get involved with your work. To all the people whining and moaning about her painting over their background, get a grip. My brother asks me to color his drawings for him all the time; it's a way to teach him how to color but to share our interests and bond as well. Plenty of artists collaborate with each other people! She's teaching and guiding her children, not exploiting them.

Thank you for your comment, I have never thought that I am exploiting my kids. All I want for them to learn how to be free with the paint. This is just a learning process, My dad was a painter and I used to learn to paint the same way. My daughters paint their own paintings which I keep and I don't touch them. It would be easier for me to color backgrounds by myself, but as I said I want them to learn and their really love the process, I even have opened an art studio for kids in our little city. Thanks again for your positive thoughts. Nomeda
