Colin Mochrie From ‘Whose Line Is It Anyway?’ Shuts Down The Haters That Attacked His Daughter On Her Birthday
A lot of kids cringe in mild shame when their parents post on social media. But not Colin Mochrie’s daughter Kinley Mochrie. Ever since the transgender woman came out to her father in April 2016, he was nothing but supportive. Even if it means responding to nasty internet trolls.
“Happy birthday to my lovely Daughter,” Colin Mochrie, a symbol of the popular improvisational comedy television show Whose Line Is It Anyway? wrote. “28 years old and everything we’ve ever hoped for in a child.”
After people tried to bring him down about his transgender kid, Colin crafted another message. Only this one was a little more savage. And by a little, I mean they probably had to call the fire department after a burn like this.
But before you scroll down to check it out, you have to understand where Colin is coming from. “You go through this thing ‘now my child has changed gender from male to female, does that mean that previous child is now gone?'” he toldCBC a while back. “It’s the same kid [with a] different coat on.”
Kinley said she never doubted her parents’ understanding during her transition. “It took some time, but I knew that support and acceptance were on the other side,” she said. “I was not worried about sex discrimination for a second.”

As of yesterday, my mom just accepted me as bi and it made all the difference. We've been fighting over this for years and she finally said "It's okay to date whoever you want to date... We just want you to be happy" and I have never been happier in my life

That's awesome. There's a wonderful group on FB called Stand-In Mom's and Dad's. It's a group for people this parents have disowned (or just generally are miserable tw*ts to them) over their sexuality so they can find understanding and accepting surrogates who would be happy to stand up at a wedding or cheer at a graduation. I highly recommend it to anyone who needs our is willing to provide a loving and accepting embrace in their lives.

There is an amazing group on FB called Stand In Moms and Dads. It's a group for people who are not as fortunate as this woman, people whose parents have disowned them or who simply take great pleasure in insulting and deriding them whenever possible for being LGBTQ. It's half people who need or want a caring, accepting person to give them away at a wedding, cheer for them during a graduation, or just go get coffee and get advice/ taking about life without their identity and sexual preference being vilified or ignored. The other half are people who happily want to be that person for someone that has been turned away by blood relations. There's a database of those who are offering to stand in, organized by country, state, and city. If anyone here can afford the time or needs this, please go check it out.

So, while I don't have a problem with people living their dream, I'm also concerned about the huge rise in what they refer to as gender "dysphoria". I have read that it may be due to the vast amounts of chemical hormones in our water and food. This can't be ruled out, as it's been scientifically proven to cause early onset puberty in children. Also, what I don't understand is, when an anorexic looks in the mirror and sees a fat person, we try to help them change/get better/improve to help them. When a male looks in the mirror and sees a girl, we encourage it. It's like a story I read recently about a woman that felt she should've been born blind. Of course no doctors would do anything for her, so she gouged out her own eyes. What is the difference in thinking you're something you're not, and why do people choose to discourage some of this behavior while encouraging others? This is in no way disrespectful, but to me these are very valid points that are worth contemplating.

Isla I think if people with gender dysphoria were mutilating their bodies that would be a time for psychological intervention, like in your examples. Gender dysphoria has been chronicled for over 3500 years (great article: https://www.susans.org/2015/03/03/gender-dysphoria-a-trip-down-memory-lane/). It's part of the spectrum of human identity and is not unhealthy or dangerous. What we are encouraging is that it is safe in our society to express this, rather than being imprisoned or murdered as these groups have been for many thousands of years.

My mom picked me up by my shirt and slammed me against the wall, screaming "freak" at me when my ex-girlfriend called her and outed me. My mom was my best friend, and I was devastated that she reacted that way. It took a long time, but she finally accepted it before she passed away.

In Canada, for many years, trans people were denied access to medical assistance or counseling for any aspect of their transition, if they did not dress and act in traditional, stereotypical male or female ("high femme") style for several years in advance of their transition. This is what made trans rights a feminist issue to me, a cisgender woman who was living her best life in baggy overalls and no makeup at the time. It's completely wrong to suggest that a woman or a man should look or act a certain way to be considered a woman or a man.

Maybe they save animals or are life guards or future engineers. This is just a honest serious question. Why does it seem the majority of trans gendered people transition from male to female? I don't know if there is a reason behind it, or if I'm wrong in observing that way. I'll also for the life of me, never understand why people are so concerned about how others live their lives. It's harder to spot women who transgender to men than it is men that transgender to women. In this day and age..it's probably easier for a girl to wear guys clothing and get away with it than it is for a man to throw on makeup and a dress. It's not that there are more men transitioning than women..it's just more obvious.

The danger of suicide for trans people comes from those who harass them and won't accept them. And I don't think we're going to have so many people become gay or trans that it will lead to the end of humanity, since even gay people manage to have children, although lowering the birth rate would actually save humanity at this point. I am always delighted to her of parents being supportive and accepting of their LGBTQ children and the relief and joy that the young person feels when their parents accept them. But I live for the day when children no longer feel they need to "come out" at all. Heterosexual children do not "come out." Non trans kids don't "come out." Why should any person feel they need to specifically tell another their gender identity or sexual orientation? I have raised 3 boys. None of them have sat down with me and identified their gender or sexuality to me. Over the course of our lives together, in talking about dating, crushes, etc these points have been simply a part of normal day to day conversations no different that discussing their preference in music or food. My children have lived their entire lives knowing they are completely loved and accepted and have never hesitated for a moment in expressing who they are.

I like looking up celebrities and their spawn. When I first came across Colin's offspring, my first though wasn't "Oh, he's a she." My first thought was "Oh my God she looks just like her dad!" My 13 year old daughters first thought was "Awwww". I think I raised her right. :)

Umm, whoa... and to think that people used to take me as a guy; i really don't want to see how this guy-lady would be treated in my country. God gives us freedom of choice, just like he let rapists and murderers do as they please, but along the way, we all pay for our decisions. To me, a man will always be male regardless of their gender choice as he'll always be physically stronger than any woman. Body is body and no body will come out of his 'womb'. Sorry, it's honesty, i won't call you pretty if you're not. I won't hate him, but don't want him close. And that's my choice.

I understand the concept that there is no real gender. (I fully support this) BUT! there is such thing as chromosomes and sex. I don't understand why people that want to be the opposite gender have to try to change their sex. This is impossible as the chromosomes will never change, you will always be the male sex, even if you are a "feminine" gender.

There’s a difference between just not liking aspects of yourself and wanting to rip your skin off and cry when you see your body. This is where my liberal side draws the line. I can support a trans person, if they are convincing at it. This "girl" looks like a dude with a wig. Putting on a dress and wearing make up doesn't make you a woman. There's more to a woman than that. Down arrow me away. It's so shameful that in this day and age, this is all it takes to 'become a woman'. Fake women will never know what it's like to have periods every month, go through pregnancy, labour, breastfeed and menopause. They have absolutely no clue what it takes to be a woman. The people you call amoebas and amoral and perverse are humans too. someone's son or daughters. Maybe they are really good at other things. Maybe they save animals or are life guards or future engineers. I just don't like it that respect is asked for trans people yet in the same breath you dehumanise someone because they have the 'wrong' opinion. Now THAT is also righteous and bad. Bullies are bad in general, so don't stoop down to their level and be one for a different reason.

This is just a honest serious question. Why does it seem the majority of trans gendered people transition from male to female? I don't know if there is a reason behind it, or if I'm wrong in observing that way. I'll also for the life of me, never understand why people are so concerned about how others live their lives. It's harder to spot women who transgender to men than it is men that transgender to women. In this day and age..it's probably easier for a girl to wear guys clothing and get away with it than it is for a man to throw on makeup and a dress. It's not that there are more men transitioning than women..it's just more obvious.

The danger of suicide for trans people comes from those who harass them and won't accept them. And I don't think we're going to have so many people become gay or trans that it will lead to the end of humanity, since even gay people manage to have children, although lowering the birth rate would actually save humanity at this point. The earth can only support so many humans.

I am always delighted to her of parents being supportive and accepting of their LGBTQ children and the relief and joy that the young person feels when their parents accept them. But I live for the day when children no longer feel they need to "come out" at all. Heterosexual children do not "come out." Non trans kids don't "come out." Why should any person feel they need to specifically tell another their gender identity or sexual orientation? I have raised 3 boys. None of them have sat down with me and identified their gender or sexuality to me. Over the course of our lives together, in talking about dating, crushes, etc these points have been simply a part of normal day to day conversations no different that discussing their preference in music or food. My children have lived their entire lives knowing they are completely loved and accepted and have never hesitated for a moment in expressing who they are.

I like looking up celebrities and their spawn. When I first came across Colin's offspring, my first though wasn't "Oh, he's a she." My first thought was "Oh my God she looks just like her dad!" My 13 year old daughters first thought was "Awwww". I think I raised her right. :)

Umm, whoa... and to think that people used to take me as a guy; i really don't want to see how this guy-lady would be treated in my country. God gives us freedom of choice, just like he let rapists and murderers do as they please, but along the way, we all pay for our decisions. To me, a man will always be male regardless of their gender choice as he'll always be physically stronger than any woman. Body is body and no body will come out of his 'womb'. Sorry, it's honesty, i won't call you pretty if you're not. I won't hate him, but don't want him close. And that's my choice.

I understand the concept that there is no real gender. (I fully support this) BUT! there is such thing as chromosomes and sex. I don't understand why people that want to be the opposite gender have to try to change their sex. This is impossible as the chromosomes will never change, you will always be the male sex, even if you are a "feminine" gender.

“Acceptance”, you mean forcing someone to stay inside a body that causes dysphoria towards them and trying to turn it around and make them feel guilty over something they can’t control? There’s a difference between just not liking aspects of yourself and wanting to rip your skin off and cry when you see your body. There’s a difference between not embracing imperfections and having a diagnosis by a licensed therapist show that you are suffering. If you did pity us you wouldn’t try to make us feel bad over something we can’t control just because it’s what our parents gave us

This is where my liberal side draws the line. I can support a trans person, if they are convincing at it. This "girl" looks like a dude with a wig. Putting on a dress and wearing make up doesn't make you a woman. There's more to a woman than that. Down arrow me away.
