Did you know that a physicist once made his cat the co-author of his paper because he'd accidentally written "we" instead of "I" throughout his work and couldn't be bothered to change it? Also, believe it or not, the British Government has a position called "Chief Mouser To The Cabinet Office" that can only be assigned to a cat. And although this may not surprise you, a study once proved that cats are more than capable of recognizing their owner's voices, but simply choose to ignore it. Scroll down for more entertaining facts about cats, compiled by Bored Panda. Don't forget to vote for your favorite!

Mine hasn't done this either. I don't know if this means she thinks I'm awesome, or that she doesn't give a damn about me!
Load More Replies...So, actually they think they have to care for us, not that we care for them. :/
One of the examples that our cats actually own us!!!!
Load More Replies...I disagree. They think we're the greatest hunters when we come home from the supermarket! We feed them every day. They bring you dead animals as a way of saying, see? I can do my part. Here take this lovely offering as thanks for all the meals you've provided to me!
Better yet...my cats beg me for food, so I must be some sort of supercat :-)
That's actually not true: they see us eating everyday, they know we can feed ourselves. It's really just a present, a sign of affection
One cat will bring me French Fries from the garbage the other brings me socks. They know whats up!
Or maybe sometimes they don't like the taste of this one and figure you can eat it.
So my cat thought I was only a halfway crappy cat then, because she would always eat half
My grandmothers would collect bottle tops instead of mice. Same idea I'm sure
real fun starts when they don't kill the mouse and want you to learn to catch it... then it get's trapped under furniture and lives there for months. or when a cat brings a dead bird, leaves it on patterned carpet and you step on it accidentaly in the middle of the night....
Or the neighbor's cat that I was kind to, she left squirrel heads on the welcome mat for me. I told her she was a very good kitty!
Load More Replies...mine started with worms now brings in live mice...... !!! preferred the worms ..
Here, dude, a present. By the way, you need to sleep more, and why don't you just kick yourselves clean, without getting into that horrifying water?
Or Bengal kitten keeps bringing us his toy mouse (stuffed with catnip) and decided to teach us how to play "Fetch" by dropping it on our laps and then waiting for us to throw it. He cases after the toy, and expects us to throw it for him again. He does this for 40 minutes at a time ((after which he's usually so tired he has to have a little nap!) If we *don't* play "Fetch" with him, he sits there looking sad and disappointed, meowing until we get the message/give in and do what he wants. We didn't tech him to do this, *he* taught *us*!
My cat actually brought me a wild bunny (still alive and unharmed) "Look Human, I found a HUGE mouse!"
NOPE. They do that to show off to us. If what this image is suggesting is true they wouldn't eat the animal they bring. They already know we have food, otherwise they wouldn't ask for it every time I open the front door.
Yeah...our cats are indoor only. When you ask them what they do for a living, all they have to say is, "So? Do you see any mice?" .... There's really nothing you can say to that.
Load More Replies...I love rodents so this fact is heartbreaking(especially that picture of the dead mouse) . I hate seeing dead mice lying on the sidewalk that hadn't even been eaten. I know it's the cat's instinct, but still
On second thought, though, humans kill innocent rodents too. The cats do it because its their instinct, the humans do it because they are complete #$%# that I would like to poison or decapitate or de-skin so they can understand what they are doing to the poor babies
Load More Replies...My mommy cat says she used to do that all the time before she stopped being allowed outside.
Wonder if that’s why my ex boyfriend used to bring me toys eh Werner Bock?
"Here, you no good human, eat! Don't you starve on me now!! Who is going to clean my litter box??"

My cat once caught a mouse and put it in my dads chair! When my mom told my this story, I laughed so hard!
My cat brought home a roasted chicken leg yesterday morning! Not sure where or who he stole it from!
I once had a cat that brought live birds into the house. We think she thought the dogs were her not-too-bright children that she was trying to teach how to hunt.
This isn't why cats bring you dead animals. Wild cats are solitary. But feral domestics live in large family groups with all the adults contributing to feeding the group. When your cat brings you a animal, it's because he feels it's his responsibility to contribute to the family. The "cats think you are crappy cat" was disproven years ago.
Mine used to bring me pocket gophers and line them up by the patio door
My cat usually leaves me large insects. What the hell does she think I am?
I had a cat that used to bring me mice, birds and one time a squirrel. Unfortunately, the squirrel wasn't quite dead yet.

Am I the only one who see these sad and hopeless eyes of the mouse :(
My cat brought me a squirrel...in my kitchen. I suppose he wanted me to cook it.
It's not really that -- it's more that they think we're family, and it's their job to share with us, just like it's our job to share with them. I mean, there IS a bit of an expectation there of, "Well, I gave you a bird, so you have to give me the rest of the milk from your cereal".
My cats used to bring in live birds for use, jump on your chest and just drop the birds as a prezzy, then it was up to you to catch them and put them out side again with your moggie's glaring at you for letting your prezzies go.
kittens do bring their mothers prey to show her their hunting skills, and to be shown how to eat the prey, without choking, i think. so cats may be just doing the same thing for humans as a token of affection - most cats tend to felinize us humans as furless, vertical cats.
Mine used to bring in live catch and yowell until I woke up then as soon as I sat up and turned the light on he would drop it for me to chase and catch. He was such a good trainer I learned to lock the cat door at night.
No they don't. This is NOT why cats bring "gifts" to their owners. They are doing just that, bringing a "gift" to the person who feeds them, loves them, and so forth. It's their way of saying "thank you." Who told you that crazy idea anyway?
My 5lb cat Emmy is known for bringing home birds. She has been going out for about a year now and she has brought home at least 5 so far
I just love this fact, since I feed mine because I love them, they try to feed me because they love me back!
My cats bring them in alive, it's up to us what we do with them when they're doing a dance in front of the TV the mice that is, not the cats !!
