Erik Storm, a resident of the Hawaiian Islands, and works as a guide, touring the Kilauea volcano. During one of them, he decided to film a lava flow a short distance away and put the camera on a rock. While telling his tour group about the history of the volcano, the lava covered the device causing it to catch fire. After removing the camera, Storm discovered that the camera was still working and had recorded the moment of its flood.
