I am artist from Malaysia, living and working in Doha Qatar. Recently we moved into a new home in Doha. The owner of the villa compound wanted a tree in our back yard to be cut and thrown away. Reason being that tree just collected dust, dirtied the backyard with dried leaves, pods and seeds. The tree hardly provided any shade.

The tree was completely felled after my family and I moved-in July this year. Sad to see the tree go.

I decided to put the dead tree to its best use. Not a twig will be thrown away. Everything will be reused and repurposed.

Rented chainsaw and wood cutters and spent 2 days cutting the tree into smaller pieces and discs.

My first project was the creation of 2 large Butterflies sculpture using the tree trunk disks. 5 days of work.

Now these two pieces hang on the wall, witnessed by the stub of the dead (perhaps not) tree.

Stay tuned for more creations repurposed from this felled tree.
