This 13-Year-Old Boy Walked 2 Miles Just To Save A Dying Puppy

A 13-year-old from Delft, one of the poorest communities in Cape Town, South Africa, recently walked two miles to save his doggie. When the boy realized his puppy was sick and stopped eating, plus started having bloody diarrhea, he took it upon himself to find help.

He found it at Tin Can Town, an animal rescue that helps local dogs and cats. “She was very thin and the boy told us he didn’t have enough money for food for her,” Stöckigt who works at a rescue organization told The Dodo. “We told him we would do our best to save her life, and find her a new loving home that can take care of her. We thanked him for bringing her to us for help.”

They named the doggie Nanuk and put her on a drip. It turned out that the pooch had parvo virus, which can be lethal if untreated. If she wasn’t going to eat, there would be no hope for her.

The rescuers would cheer her up with the visits from foster kitties and, on the sixth day, Nanuk got better.

“I think it is a combination of the kittens, having one of us by her side the whole time giving her love and encouragement…” Stöckigt said.  The rescuers are on the look for a loving forever home for Nanuk.

I love this. I feel bad that the boy had to give up his dog, but happy that the puppy is being found a good home.

this boy is really poor but his soul is richer than many people. Thank you so much for rescuing the lovely puppy as well as giving us a meaningful love lesson.

I feel so sad for that little boy. What a kind thing to give up his dog to save her life. I wish there was another solution - like save her, and let him come back every week to get food for her? Anyway. It's great she was saved and I hope this little boy grows up to be a richer young man with plenty of money to feed the dogs he loves to save :-)

Yet one more four-legged child saved. There are still good things happening, even in the most depressed parts of the world. Think positive. :D

Beautiful little boy to save his dog. Like others, I wish there was a way to let him keep his dog

I wish we could start a gofundme page to help this kind boy and his four-legged child, both of them must be heartbroken to be separated from each other.

Poor child, he truly loves his dog, yet it was taken away from him. I don't understand that the people working in that animal clinic gave no help to this wonderful and brave boy. Surely there must be another way to go about in such a situation. It is so sad that the kid couldn't keep his pet dog.

Parvo used to be a death sentence for a dog. Puppies didnt have a chance. I am really pleased to see how many dogs they save now with this disease.
