Billionaire Blasted For Complaining About $85 Room Service Bill: ‘Lazy Drama Queen’

The lifestyles of the rich and famous became hotly debated online after billionaire hedge fund tycoon Kyle Bass shared his woes online about his breakfast bill.

The billionaire investor and founder of Hayman Capital Management had posted a picture online of his breakfast bill and shared his financial heartburn with his followers, blaming U.S. President Joe Biden and inflation for the $85 he had to part ways with for some waffles, “heritage” bacon, orange juice and diet Coke.

“Terrible Inflation milestone reached – My first $85 breakfast for one at a NYC hotel. After signing this bill, I have decided NEVER AGAIN,” he wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Although Kyle did not reveal the name of the hotel, internet users did some Sherlock-ing of their own and pointed out that his bill may have possibly come from The Carlyle, a swanky Manhattan hotel that has had names like Princess Diana, Michael Jackson, and Steve Jobs on the guest list.

Kyle Bass was slammed after posting a picture of his $85 breakfast bill

“Items on this receipt match the menu for room service at the Carlyle Hotel, a 5-star hotel where the lowest rate on their website ranges from $954 (including a $35 breakfast coupon) to $6,244 after fees for a room tonight,” read a community note that Kyle’s tweet is now tailed with.

Twitter users went into a frenzy over Kyle choosing to live a high-flying life and still complaining about his morning meal.

“You ordered room service in a 5 ⭐️ Manhattan hotel. What were you expecting? Poor guy. I bet that broke the bank paying the $10 to have someone bring your food to you in bed,” one user wrote.

Another said, “Dude, it’s room service in a Manhattan hotel. You know that you’re paying for the privilege of not going outside and finding a considerably less expensive food truck on the nearest corner. Elitist.”

“You’re in New York City, get a bagel sandwich for $5,” one wrote while another added, “Maybe next time get breakfast on the street the way all the other billionaires do..”

The internet called him a “lazy drama queen” for complaining

“It’s a hotel. It’s room service. You are a lazy drama Queen. Stay at hotels that give breakfast for free or go to a restaurant,” one suggested. “Your privileges are showing.”

The Twitter thread was also peppered with Kyle’s replies to some of the comments. In one of his replies, he defended himself by saying he grew up in a lower middle class family and “appreciates each meal to this day.”

“I did send this earlier this morning to revolt against the craziness of hotel food pricing in NYC. I ordered without having a menu (while on a call) and was appalled when the bill came. I grew up lower middle class…graduated college dirt poor…and appreciate each meal to this day. The hate here was unexpected,” Kyle said in his defense. “Many of the accounts are Chinese disinformation accounts that smelled blood in the water. One tweet reply sent from my account was a fraud. I appreciate your comment.”

Hotel room service was always overpriced, since room service existing. That's common sense and knowledge. Throwing a tantrum over it, it's petty. If you don't wanna pay it, order Papa John's.

Making just an observation, he noted that as much as HE travels, this is the first $85 breakfast he has had in NYC. That was more his point then the actual cost.

I could understand say the waffles being more expensive. Maybe they're hand prepared not just store bought and heated up. But $14 for a glass of OJ? And $8 for a diet coke? I don't normally have sympathy for billionaires but I agree with him on that. He's already paying a service fee (it's on the bill), in fact there are two. The In room dining charge and the gratuity.

I respect him standing up for over pricing, I don't respect his poor gratuity given his riches, kinda takes shine away.
