I have always loved Nature especially geology (my father is hydro geologist, who’s even discovered his own cave!) My father used to take us caving in a new state every year. One year in Kentucky I found this mostly dirty rock that shimmered in little spots, my dad upon seeing it told me to break it open explaining it was geode. I was in such awe when we broke it open and so when I saw Mrs Coloberry’s work I fell in love and dove right into resin and haven’t turned back. Although I love geodes and Opals I wanted a stone that was my own, and a style that was my own as well. I started off with Holographic geodes, and then had a series of holographic and iridescent beaches( which are a huge hit!), and started working on some Moonstone and Labradorite pieces. I couldn’t find any tutorial on how to paint Labradorites with Resin so I bought a slab and studied that and any pictures I could find to help me come up how to go about painting this beautiful stone! It was a lot of fun experimenting with different way to create depth and I plan to create many more!

In each piece I try to have something Holographic or iridescent as well as a black element. The black represents darkness, struggle pain, all the worries and doubts all the negative thoughts I think people have of me, and then the holographic or iridescence that thing that shines and reflects and creates these beautiful colors and catches yours eyes with it’s motion reminds me (and hopefully others) that’s it’s my beauty, my inner light, all my positivity, that others are really seeing and loving; and all that darkness just accentuates that beauty.

I called My art Art of the future because of my use of holographic, just seems so futuristic as well as it giving hope about the future as a meaning in my paintings and I said it heals the past because I’m hoping the inspiration my pieces might create will help heal others’ past. I heard once that a diamond only shines because of it’s flaws, and that really hit me. A lot of us think that because we’ve been broken that we’re flawed, but in reality we can’t shine if we don’t break (kind of like a glow stick). I want anyone who struggles to see these to feel that unspoken message that I put into my pieces. I want people to feel beautiful and inspirational despite their downfalls or struggles.

Most of my pieces take me at least a week to complete as I love to make layers and create depth. I know it’s the smallest details that really make a piece. I always try to have someone in mind when I’m creating my pieces and think positive things about them and how they’ve had a positive influence on my life so that way my pieces are coming to life with positivity and healing.

My greatest Dream growing up was to bring something beautiful into this world that wasn’t there before, and now I get to do that everyday!
