Kat Von D Said She’ll Raise Her Unborn Child Vegan And Without Vaccinations, So This Mom Shut Her Down
Kat Von D has over 12M followers on Facebook and nearly 6,5M followers on Instagram. So, when this tattoo artist and cosmetics entrepreneur says something, people hear it. That’s why Caroline Hirons had a problem with Kat’s recent anti-vaccine claims. To illustrate her point, she told about her son’s brutal battle against mumps.
Celebrities (most notably Jenny McCarthy) have been linked with impacting the number of parents who choose vaccines. McCarthy pushed against the MMR vaccine, in part blaming it for her son’s autism diagnosis. It was followed by record numbers of measles cases in the U.S. After the fraudulent study was retracted, however, the vaccine rates started to come back up.
Scroll down to read how Hirons’ case against Von D, and let us know what you think about it in the comment section.

What do you think?
ah... remember that good time when we all use herb and natural cure? when we all dies in our old 30's and 40's?
and when people got 8-10 children, cause at least two of them would survive :D
Load More Replies...I think everything has been said about anti-vacciners. They are stupid, selfish, and ultimately wrong in their arguments and motives. However, what strikes me is that not more of the "18+ trillion followers" rage about her domineering tone. What about all the mothers who wished for nothing but the best for their children but did NOT manage to have the, according to Kat von D, only acceptable way of birthing, at home, with a doula and no doctor etc. etc.? Even ignoring the anti-vacinnation nonsense, this self-righteouness should make people angry!
Yep, remember she hasn't given birth yet...let's see what her tone is afterwards.
Load More Replies...What is an "electric plant based diet"? Pure nonsense... In Europe, we know these rituals to cure diseases, it was called "witch burning"
Although the posting is severely annoying, the discussion is sparked here is quite entertaining. :)
Load More Replies...For the record: a vegan or plantbased diet has nothing to do whatsover with vaccinations. I am a vegan myself and wish to dissociate myself in the strongest way possible from the absolutely irresponsible and unscientific arguments used by the anti-vaccination movement. You might argue that it is "not vegan" to use a vaccin as it might be tested on animals, but this is the law for all medicins before they are used on humans (at least in Europe), so at this moment it is just not possible in certain cases to use products which are free from animal cruelty.
Thank you for your comment!! I am a student herbalist and I use plant based medicine for lots of things, but I also believe that western medicine is amazing and truly necessary. My daughter is vaccinated & has check ups every year and I'm proud of that among my "holistic" community. We are not vegan but that's because my lifestyle in the Yukon doesn't really allow for it... Striving to live a more natural lifestyle doesn't mean you have to give up common sense and put your children in harms way. I love that Kat von d is willing to try a natural birth and a midwife, but to not vaccinate proves she is a fool spoiled by western medicine.
Load More Replies...Anti vax parents are essentially saying they'd rather their kid get a potentially life threatening, easily avoidable disease, than have autism. I'm autistic and this is really upsetting. I felt like a second class citizen before but this is something else.
Amina I'm very sorry that these stupid dumbo's make you feel this way. It is one of the important things that makes this so extra frustrating. They want to risk their own and other children all for fear of this unreal risk which is not even a harm (like actual polio etc). There is nothing wrong with people who have autism, we are all unique. But I don't think it is actually not autism that scares them, it is the psalms of their fellow hipster cult that drones into their heads that anything unnatural is bad. Not only vaccines but all 'unnatural' stuff. See it as a new religion in these unsure times with no real doctrines to follow, this helps them not to think (beyond themselves) but only to follow.
Load More Replies...I just find it terrifying to see how in this 21st century of ours, the world seems to go backwards. Old diseases return for vaccines refusal, European countries electing fascism, women all over the "free world" seem to be more oppressed than back at the end of the past century, people using phones are "witch-hunted" by self-righteous moralists... It's really sad.
And everywhere people vote for autocratic leaders. It seems so much easier to just believe in what you already believe and to be led than to educate yourself, keep on challenging yourself, and be reasponsible beyond your own little world.
Load More Replies...So people who are anti-vaccination, are they pro-nature? is that what they thing will fix things? nature? well, doctors, nurses, researchers are all natural beings who created cures for a whole bunch of illnesses, granted we still have a bunch more with no cure, but that's not what this is about. They're basically saying that all these decades of people being ill, dying, living in pain and people working to help them is a waste of time because they'll use a crystal or some plant or worse yet 'good wishes' to cure all? take the damn help of the professional. But ya know, each to their own and all that...?
Pro-nature. With a completely inked body, done with electric equipment and industrially produced colours. Wtf?
Load More Replies...I agree with stellermatt, to each their own, but there are so many things I can't swallow when it comes to this anti-vaccination policy. New diseases are "born" everyday and we don't have magical herbs to help with that before it's too late. Ebola, Yellow Fever-- back when vaccination wasn't a thing, people would die of age when they turned 50 - if they didn't die beforehand due to certain illnesses (plague, amirite). I may be exaggerating, but so is this woman who's pushing a decision on a child (who can't choose on their own because, uh, child) and thinking it's gonna be a happy ever after. No, ma'am, you may avoid animal products but when it comes to medicine, better not risk an innocent life.
there was a post regarding this a while back - I related at the time how I came close to death aged 3/4 from measles before routine vaccinations were in force. Parents, and it seems to be rich parents who make this choice, rather than the poorest who just fall through the gaps and are just irresponsible. It is these same rich people who then take their vulnerable children to areas of the world on holiday where these diseases are endemic
I read that while the vacination rates plummet in Western countries, they rise steeply in the so called third-world. Why? If people have still sean relatives, probably their own children die from illnessed for which vaccinations exist, they do not ponder twice if a 0.something chance of bad effects and a 0.00something rate of really bad effects of vaccinations are truly a reason to skip the shot...
Load More Replies...I had Gullian Barre syndrome, so I'm not allowed to have any vaccinations because there could be a reoccurance with certain vaccines. I am vulnerable to people's unvaccinated children. I was also born with an immune disorder and almost died several times as a child from illnesses that didn't have a vaccine yet. Vaccines don't cause autism. I'm autistic and so is my entire family. I have to think genetics plays a part. Please, vaccinate your children and keep EVERYONE safe!!!
