Floral Anatomical Illustrations Breathe New Life Into Old Discarded Books

Dictionaries are there to teach us things, but over time those books grow old until eventually they end up broken and destroyed. But a company called PRRINT has found a brilliant way to preserve both the books themselves as well as their educational purpose.

The Spanish-based company repurposes the pages of vintage dictionaries by turning them into canvases for beautiful floral anatomical illustrations. Such detailed diagrams of the human body can often look a little grisly, but the clever use of colorful flowers brings some much-needed warmth to the otherwise harsh images. The floral additions turn the featured bodies into striking bouquets that not only look beautiful – they also teach us something at the same time. See for yourself in the pictures below, then head on over to their Etsy page where you can find the full range there.

I enjoyed the thought of the dictionaries being preserved. I am the type that would try reading the original page under the drawing, but I don't read Spanish. I've got to wonder if the spine was painted on the "Spine" page of the dictionary, etc. Does anybody else do this too?

"Such detailed diagrams of the human body can often look a little grisly" - I always thought they were lovely, personally. Flowers and butterflies are an interesting touch and pretty to boot, but the most interesting bits are the anatomical drawings, imo.

wow the details are amazing. I know someone will complain about drawing in a book...just enjoy the art!

Correct me if I'm wrong. As far I undarstand from their Etsy profile, these are digital prints. They can put one on anything they like (they even offer two sizes of each print), although they choose old dictionary pages to upcycle.
