Wales is an ancient entity, full of rich cultural diversity which gave birth to Arthurian legends, her old lingual Celtic tongue has survived many waves of wars which was waged against her, she is bruised, battered.. and those scars are seen if you scratch but the surface.

We are lead to believe that our voice matters, that our place in society makes a difference on the larger scale, but there is a rumbling resilience brewing in the air, no longer are people taught history from the confines of schools where information is filtered through a regulated entity which wishes to suppress injustices placed upon the Welsh population over hundreds of years, people need only to find articles online within seconds which shows the real history of Wales.

Prince William, I urge you to show the Welsh we should accept you as one of our own, Here are some guidelines for you to contemplate;

1. Our unfiltered history matters to us, we are proud of those who fought to keep our culture alive

2. We feel isolated, even though our language is being maintained, there are always doubts to its future, the Welsh language was forced to die, we need help in any way possible to restore what was taken away.

3. Make us proud to have you as our prince/future king, the three feathers emblem displays divided opinion to one Welshman to another, there are those who do not care at all, those who wear is with pride where-as others despises it as they believe it symbolises English ownership over the Welsh.

4. Wales is no longer a Principality, rather, a country.. although, we are still seen as a part of the ‘Kingdom of England and Wales’ where Wales is represented under the Saint George’s Cross, the British flag is symbolic and whenever a Welsh person is reminded of where Wales is on the flag, they take a step back and shiver.

The flag does not represent modern Britain and needs to be updated to include Wales.

5. The last British royal child to have a Welsh forename was in 1486; Prince Arthur Tudor, named after King Arthur from Welsh mythology.

6. Nobody in the royal household speaks Welsh.

7. Our sports should not be political, the three feathers on the rugby shirts seems like it’s designed to indoctrinate us from an early age, so that when our fathers and grandfathers have gone, our children will simply see the feathers as something native .

If you want to win over the Welsh, especially those who speak Welsh, then show us that you care, show us that our culture matters, show us that you are our prince and not some foreign entity, show us that you are different from your forefathers by getting your hands dirty and by showing that you are descended from us, your blood is of our soil, show it.
