One lone horse in an open field was seen when I was spending a weekend in the Ardennes when the Belgians were remembering the 60th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge. It was in the middle of winter and much like what is seen in the photo. The horse points out the emotional feelings many might have had in that time.
