A Letter To My Service Cat, Joy.

A little over a year ago, I was diagnosed with a mental health condition. It wrecked havoc on my personal life and mental health. I was near the end of the line, and that’s when I found you.

You were so tiny, 0.7 lbs, 4 weeks old, frozen and near death.

I managed to catch you using a bit of tuna, and the minute i held you, you began to purr. We brought you inside, where i wrapped you up in my flannel shirt. You Purred so much, mewing softly. When my mother got there, she was furious. She was afraid of cats, and besides, we were leaving for vacation in 2 days. you slept with me that night and were so thankful for a warm house.

The next day, we said our goodbyes, thinking you were off to a foster home. After school, My mom took me to dinner where she told me we would be keeping you. that’s where it all began.

The next month, January, after only having you for 9 days, there was an accident at my school. One of my friends was killed. I came home sobbing, and as soon as I walked in the door, you ran straight to me, jumping in my lap and licking away the tears. You’d do that many more times in the future.

At that moment, I knew you were the Service cat for me. You did your training and passed, becoming a certified service animal. You help me through so much and i’m forever thankful. I love you JoyJoy. So much. Thank you for being my guardian angel.
