I have illustrated Darth Vader’s nervous, yet potentially exciting visit to Japan, which is full of discoveries. Problem is, he can’t adapt smoothly to the island and its uniquely developed culture. Initially, my purpose was to express how tough and at the same time inspiring it would be to cross the borders of countries or even planets to immerse oneself in a mysterious new pool of people and ideas.

Realizing that what may be monotonous, everyday scenes to me can be astonishing and overwhelming to others with different backgrounds. This helps me see my everyday life from another angle, and even discover new aspects of it that were deeply buried within me. They work like a charm to help build my desire for my next trip just around my neighborhood.

The little Darth Vader filled with fixed ideas taught me the best way to explore a new world, but without packing my huge backpack or buying pricy airplane tickets.
