PETA Asks People To Stop Using “Anti-Animal” Phrases And People Can’t Help But Laugh
We don’t like to beat a dead horse here at Bored Panda, but PETA has opened a can of worms and gotten on people’s goat again, by being pig-headed. Taking aim at popular animal-based idiom examples like these, the animal rights organization hopes that ‘anti-animal language’ or ‘Speciesism’ will one day be put in the same bracket as things like racism or homophobia and animal abuse, vanishing from everyday use.
Handily, somebody from PETA even went as far as suggesting alternatives to the popular phrases that they feel “trivialize animal cruelty” so instead of ‘bringing home the bacon,’ they suggest a funny saying ‘bringing home the bagels’ instead.

While they undoubtedly mean well, people have reacted with a mixture of astonishment and anger, as those who have really suffered because of their race or sexuality bridle at the funny phrases comparison. How does racial abuse equate to the throwaway use of archaic sayings? It really doesn’t, and people were quick to point out all the problems with the initiative. The resulting savage roasts have made PETA look rather silly and has left them as, once again, the elephant in the room. It’s a dog eat dog world out there folks!

Load More Replies...Right, because when I say "kill to birds with one stone" I am literally fantasizing about throwing rocks to little birdies.
I meant to say two*, I missed a letter. Take a chill pill.
Load More Replies...Actually, saying "take the flower by the thorns" is plant cruelty, so that has to be banned :(
Taking the bull by the horns is actually an ancient thing not pleasant but in ancient times is was very hard to kill a large bull - hence spanish bullfighting - there literally wasnt any other way at the time, sad that it had become a spectator sport
Load More Replies...Seems to me that PETA staff have way too much time on their hands. No wonder, because they know how to deal with animals that need help. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/nathan-j-winograd/peta-kills-puppies-kittens_b_2979220.html
Wow, literally insane!! I've heard of them being shady but my gosh, I had no idea that they kill so many animals. I've never donated to them because I knew they had shady practices, but I wasn't informed of what they were until now! I'm seriously blown away! It seriously makes no sense. Why does PETA do these things or why even bother becoming an "activist for animals" group. It must be a keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer type thing they have going on.
Load More Replies...Can we please stop saying "the shoe is on the other foot" too please because it is really offensive and damaging to footwear.
Not to mention being offensive to people with only one foot.
Load More Replies...PETA gives vegans a bad name. It just goes to show that there are zealots in every way of life.
No-one can like the conditions in which farm animals are kept, bred raised and slaughtered. but criticizing 100s of year old idioms will not help their case one bit
Load More Replies...Bring home the bagels!? BUT I CAN'T EAT GLUTEN! What shall I say!? ... No need to down vote. It's a joke.. unless it isn't funny.. in which case, down vote earned.
