Be revealed, uncovered, disclosed. Emerge quietly, slowly, gradually. Four New York artists address concepts deeper than aesthetics – influenced by experience, color, current events and nature in the Emergence Art Exhibit. Navigating slowly through the world, each artist emerges with their own unique perspectives.

Lisa D’Amico listens with her eyes. Her curiosity for the solitary subject is a driving force in her work. She is concerned with art as an ever-changing form of communication – a dynamic language varying with messages. She strives to reproduce these messages through her deep fascination with color, and composition and the struggles that occur between them.

Lisa Faigin has photography in her blood. First inspired by her grandfather Jack and his ever present Nikon F, Lisa learned from him the magic of capturing a moment on film. Lisa has combined her love of technology with the power of digital photography. Ever the optimist, Lisa loves seeing the beauty of the world through the lens of her own Nikon and hopes her photos would make her grandfather proud.

Aviva Sakolsky creates to connect more deeply with herself and others. She approaches her work from the perspective of reflection and personal restoration of mind and spirit. Aviva enjoys studying objects and places that bring a sense of calm, beauty and serenity, but other times she wants to express a question or even a quest.

June Van Dunk’s work puts you inside a moment in time to experience the laughter, the sadness, the joy, or the fear shared in a single expression. Whether you’re viewing June’s portraits of everyday heroes, African animals or vibrant musicians, she speaks to you through the curve of a smile, the position of a cloud or a splash of color. Take your time and listen closely to her artwork.
