My birthplace, San Diego, has a lot to offer. From beaches to hiking trails to a world famous zoo, it’s easy to find something to do. One of the great treasures of San Diego is Balboa Park. I’ve been frolicking in this park since I was two years old.

Over the last ten years or so, one of my favorite pastimes is combining two of my passions: Balboa Park and Photography. You can search online and find countless pictures of the museums and shops. So, here are some of the more unique photos I’ve taken over the years. I hope you enjoy them!

The Museum of Man tower can be seen from almost anywhere in the park. This is a glimpse through the trees on an early morning walk.

There’s no shortage of reflections on the water at Balboa Park.

The Organ Pavillion gets a new look every month or so. This was one of my favorites!

One of the hidden treasures at the park is the lovely cactus gardens. It’s quite large and hosts hundreds of varieties of cacti, succulents, and other oddities. If you’re a plant lover like me, prepare to spend a couple of hours here.

Santa and his reindeer have been visiting the park for as long as I can remember!

There are dozens of museums that are great for all ages, like the History of the Automobile Museum.

When the sun sets, the lights create a magical park of art and color.

If you’re in a big rush, you might not notice the statues of historical figures in the city or park’s past.

If you’re visiting the zoo, don’t miss the art village next door. It’s free and there are always artists making art in their shops!

Many of the buildings came to be during San Diego’s hosting of the World Expo. The intricate moldings of the architecture create hundreds of photo opportunities.
