War And Peach Was A Long Read, So They Made It A Tea Instead

NovelTeas is a Berkeley-CA startup crafting hand-illustrated tea tins and curating literature-inspired teas. We gather experts in tea, fiction, illustration, and graphic design and we then blend organic book-themed teas inside of beautiful book-like tins. Under the loose (leaf) leadership of Founders John Pujol, Jorgen Stovne, and Mitch Kraemer, the NovelTeas team of tea and fiction-obsessed artists and designers is rapidly developing the first Tea Book Library; a library without pages, but made entirely of tin and filled with novel-inspired teas.

NovelTeas’ first book shows The Man of La ManChai, Don QuixoTea, deftly pouring his companion Sancho Panza a tall cup of tea. Inside his tin, the Don abides you a rich, Spanish Cardamom blend chosen for its, “exceedingly idealistic flavor.” For a taste of their other blends, consider what’s on the bookshelf today: Crime and PunishMint, The Sun Also Roses, War and Peach, Scents and ScentabiliTea, Pu-erhsuasion, The Brother’s Chamomile…

Every month, the Berkeley-based company throws a Pundit Workshop to conceive each new tin for their Library. They bring together selected artists, literary specialists, and tea blenders to offer customers one of the most robust, natural, and thoroughly conceived puns ever available for human consumption. They hone in on the essential aesthetics of the tea, the book, and the art, and then work together to tin it all up.

“Reading and tea drinking go hand in hand. Huckleberry Finn, Ahab, Raskolnikov, Little Women are all characters in stories apart of our collective imagination. With the help of simple reminders, we can reflect fondly on their characters, their themes, and their moral power. NovelTeas creators have put a lot of thought into the many illustrations designed for every tin, and they have hidden subtle references to the books and to the teas – called MoTeafs.”

NovelTeas wants you to enjoy their uniquely blended organic teas, but they also want you to muse over the tins. “Not just once, but a thousand times.” Share them and enjoy them out on the counter or on the shelf.
